(14) The MBTI is the next victim of the AI hype.
I am currently very busy, so the next few editions will not contain any longer form writing. But don't you worry, I am not leaving you behind. Below are 3 recommendations for you to keep the juices flowing on mental health tech:
- AI is pretty good at understanding your personality. (Paper)
This brand new paper by Dutch and American Researchers compares how well LLMs can extract a g-factor of personality vs. humans. And it is surprisingly good at doing so. AI is a new way to assess personality. Easy to see how this supports the AI Therapist business case.
Btw: I came across this paper through Minverva Psychology on LinkedIn. Great account to follow.
- Applications of AI in Neuroscience (Article)
LLMs can be a great tool for translational research in Neuroscience and Psychology. The process is quite simple: give complex behavioral examples of human trials in decision-making experiments, train a LLM on this data set, interpret the resulting model and draw conclusions about the human mind. This is what researchers tried with the Centaur model. It is also a bit more complex than that I fear.
- The New Hippocratic Code (Blog)
There is not really a lack of "AI frameworks for Mental Health". It seems to be the go-to thought leadership content for many emerging startups. Jimini Health is certainly one of them, but their "New Hippocratic Code" is the least bullshit, most application focussed framework yet, grounded in some reality.
Alright, that's it for the week! Soon I will be back in full lenght!
Best
